CMCA conducts Art Competition Showcasing China-Maldives Friendship to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of China-Maldives Diplomatic Relations
On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of China-Maldives Diplomatic Relations, the China Maldives Cultural Association (CMCA) conducted an art competition on November 12, 2022. The event was held in affiliation with the Embassy of People's Republic of China, with the theme "China-Maldives Friendship".
The exhibition was inaugurated by the Honorable Minister of Art Culture Heritage, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, and the Founder of CMCA. The exhibition was held at the National Museum ground floor and was open for public viewing from November 12 to 14, 2022, from 10 am to 6 pm.
Art pieces were judged by MAC, and the winners of both categories were announced on 17th October 2022.. Rooba Ali won first place in the painting category, receiving a prize money of Mvr 5000/-. Lujain Ali won second place, receiving a prize money of Mvr 3000/-, while Shafna Ali won third place, receiving a prize money of Mvr 2000/-.
In the photography category, Nausham Waheed won first place, receiving a prize money of Mvr 5000/-. Mariyam Sifleen Ali won second place, receiving a prize money of Mvr 3000/-, and Zaidhaan bin Mohamed Shareef won third place, receiving a prize money of Mvr 2000/-. The CMCA Art Competition provided a platform for local artists to showcase their work and highlight the cultural exchange between China and the Maldives.
The CMCA aims to promote cultural exchange between China and the Maldives and to provide opportunities for artists to showcase their talents. The art competition was one such initiative that encouraged and recognized the artistic abilities of local artists. The event received a positive response from both the participating artists and the audience, and it is expected to inspire future events that celebrate the relationship between the two countries.
