Maldivian Students Embrace Chinese Culture: Transformative Exchange in Shanghai, Yangzhou, and Suzhou

A group of 15 students from Maldives National University, Villa College, and MAndhu College recently participated in a cultural exchange visit to Shanghai, Yangzhou, and Suzhou in China.

The week-long visit, which took place from August 22nd to August 29th, 2018, was designed to give the students a better understanding of Chinese culture and to promote cultural exchange between China and the Maldives.

During their visit, the students had the opportunity to visit several historical and cultural sites in Shanghai, Yangzhou, and Suzhou. In Shanghai, they had a half-day tour, where they visited some of the city's famous landmarks.

In Yangzhou, the students visited Slender West Lake, GE Garden, Wanfu Sluice, Yangzhou Museum, China Block, and Printing Museum of Yangzhou. They also had the chance to learn about the city's rich history and cultural heritage.

In Suzhou, the students visited Lingering Garden, Suzhou Vocational University, Education Museum, Pingjian Road, Tongli Ancient Town, Embroidery Research Center, Silk Factory, Eslite Bookstore, and Suzhou Center. They learned about the city's famous silk industry, as well as its history and traditions.

The cultural exchange visit was organized by the Chinese government, in collaboration with the Maldives Ministry of Education. It was part of a larger effort to strengthen ties between China and the Maldives and to promote cultural exchange between the two countries.

The students who participated in the visit were selected based on their academic performance and their interest in learning about Chinese culture. They were accompanied by several faculty members from their respective colleges, who served as chaperones and guides during the trip.

Overall, the cultural exchange visit was a success, with the students expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to learn about Chinese culture and to make new friends from around the world. The hope is that such exchanges will continue in the future, helping to foster greater understanding and cooperation between China and the Maldives.
